Painting as a Life-Long Pursuit
Painter Francis Zimbeaux's nephew, Duncan Hilton, talks about Zimbeaux's painting career that began at the age of 19 years and lasted until his death at age 94. He talks about the artist's parents - - a musician and a painter, his family history and his personal history. Hilton discusses several periods of Zimbeaux's work including his "Van Gogh period" when he painted with a palette knife, and his "out-of-the roots" period, dominated by images of nymphs growing out from the branches of trees. Family photos, a self portrait, Zimbeaux's paintings and some of his father's work are featured.
