The Ingwersen Barn
Sarah interviews renowned portrait artist James Ingwersen in his summer studio in Door Co. Wisconsin. He describes his life as an artist and how he learned his craft. Roger paints an old barn with character on the Ingwersen property.

The Schooner

The Long Driveway
Sarah stops in Appleton, Wisconsin to find out how oil paints are manufactured. A tour of the plant reveals the process from the selection of ingredients to the finished product. Roger uses oils and paints a long country driveway on location at an Indiana farm.

The Beaver Dam
On the shore of Lake Superior, Grand Marais, Minnesota blooms with summer energy. Sarah walks around the down town area and then heads to the water's edge for the colorful Dragon boat races. Roger finds a beaver dam near the marina and using acrylics, paints the scene from the rocky shore.

The Iron Ore Docks
Sarah explores some of the rich history of Two Harbors, Minnesota learning about the Edna G. tugboat, the train station, and the Iron Ore docks. Roger likes the look of an industrial scene in the harbor and paints it during the early morning light using acrylics.

The Carousel Horse
Sarah follows signs to an historic merry go round in Burlington, Colorado to see the fabulous 100 year old Kit Carson County carousel. Take a spin on a hand carved animal for only 25 cents and listen to the Wurlitzer monster band organ. Roger paints one of the ornately decorated horses back in his studio.

Cascade Falls
During a trip to northeastern Minnesota Sarah talks with artist Neil Sherman in his studio in the Grand Marais Art colony. He describes what it's like to paint during the changing seasons and at a favorite location, Cascade Falls. Roger chooses to paint a large canvas in his studio of the majestic Cascade falls.

The Gil Net Fishing Boat
In the village of Cornucopia, Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior, Sarah looks into a family run wholesale and retail fish business. Next to the shops and marina there is a small museum and public park with several retired fishing boats. Roger decides to paint a wooden Gil net boat on location that is dry docked.

Costa Maya

Mulberry Farm
Sarah and Roger stop at the Mulberry Farm in Wisconsin. One of the owners describes farm life and the experience their farm has to offer visiting school children. There are lots of animals to pet and hold and learn about first hand. Roger paints an old barn used to store hay for the dairy cows.

Split Rock Lighthouse
Sarah tours Minnesota's' Split Rock Lighthouse, climbs up to the lantern room and learns some of the history. The spectacular rocky location of the lighthouse on the shore of Lake Superior makes an ideal subject for a large canvas painting that Roger works on in his studio.

El Galeon
In historic St. Augustine harbor, Sarah goes aboard the Spanish ship El Galeon and talks with Capt. Menendez about his voyage to the new world. Roger paints the bow of the ship using oils on a large canvas in his studio.

Sand Point Lighthouse
Sarah visits the interior of the historic Sand Point Lighthouse in Escanaba, Michigan. She learns some of its history and tours the house where a woman was keeper of the light for nearly twenty years. Roger uses acrylics to paint a landscape featuring the lighthouse on the shore of Lake Michigan.

Shore Bird Murals
